Thailand Haul: Makeup and Beauty Products

These are all of the beauty/makeup products that I got while in Thailand.

Dolly Wink Eyeliner in white. I got this at an import store near the airport. Some woman has the hookup and gets all of these products for her store from different countries, most of which cannot be purchased in Thailand outside of this store. Dolly Wink is a Japanese brand that I have heard some good things about. I used this liner to line my waterline and brighten up my eyes. I liked it. Love the packaging. The cap has a little flower on the top.

Canmake liquid eyeliner in black. This is another Japanese brand.  I purchased this at a Watson's.  I wouldn't repurchase this. It didn't last all day and smudged all over my face. The panda look is not a good look for my everyday makeup.  It has a felt tip applicator that is really stiff and hard to apply.

Oriental Princess Juicy Fruity Lip Care.  I was looking around the store, sniffing things and came upon these lip glosses. The smell is soooo nice and I ended up purchasing one for myself in the pomegranate scent, then went back and got some more for myself and my friends. They were having a 25% off sale for their members (which one of the girls I was visiting has a membership). They had six flavors: Pomegranate, Strawberry, Orange, Cherry, Raspberry and Blueberry. I got one of each flavor, except for the Cherry one. The cherry scent was nasty.  The girls working at the counter said that these are their best sellers. Each scent is tinted according to the flavor and the color is really subtle on the lips.

Also taking advantage of the 25% off sale, I purchased this highlighter and lip gloss. The highlighter came in two colors, gold and pink. The top of the highlighter is a solid pearly shimmer and the bottom is a liquid highlight.  The lip gloss had three colors. Red, Pink and Peach.  I ended up with the peach color, which is the least saturated of the three.

This is one of the brands that I was most looking forward to check out and also the hardest to find in Thailand. Lioele is a Korean brand and unlike the other brands that I was looking into, there aren't any Lioele storefronts in Thailand.  I found these products in a supermarket on accident. There was a small display of Lioele products and I picked up a few of their face products.  This is the Skin Fix Powder Pact in Moisture Type.  There was also an oil control version, I have combination skin and basically what made me choose the moisture  one was that this was closer to my skin tone than the oil control one.  The color is a little light on my skin, but I just use my faux tan from Bare Minerals all over my face to darken it up a little bit and it works. I love the packaging on this brand. Everything is super cute!

Lioele Beyond the Solution BB Cream. I love this BB Cream.  It has coverage to cover up my acne scars and hyper pigmentation without having to build up the product on my face. I don't need concealer using this BB Cream.  I would definitely repurchase this BB Cream. I have a Texas company that sells the Lioele products linked in this post, so when I run out I will have somewhere to repurchase without having to deal with international shipping.

Lioele Water Drop BB.  This BB cream has less coverage than the Triple the Solution BB cream above. If you need light coverage and nice skin this might work for you. I have neither, so I have to layer concealer and foundation powder on top to give myself the coverage that I need with this product.

Red Earth is an Australian beauty brand that we don't have in the US.  I got both of these products at the import store, but they are also sold throughout Thailand.  They were having a sale on all Red Earth products that day so I picked up a couple of things. One of the girls that I was visiting used the Brow Perfecting kit on her eyebrows, so I previously tried hers out. I needed something for my eyebrows and liked her kit so I went to pick one up for myself. I originally went up to the girl at the stand to see what color I should use and she ended up putting a full face of makeup on me AND  shaped my eyebrows complimentary! I ended up with the brunette eyebrow kit and the Pure Color Luxe Lipstick in Peach Berry. It's a cream lipstick in a nice nude color.

This was also purchased at the import store. I had never heard of this brand before, but being obsessed with Hello Kitty I picked up two of the lip products. I got the Kiss Lipstick in 05 and the Lip moisture pot, in ?. There wasn't a color for the pot, but it's a sheer red shade. The lipstick is more of a gloss and is a super sheer pink color. Can't beat the packaging on these products. the top of the lipstick is a rhinestone! I couldn't find any information on this brand. It's not the same as the Hello Kitty brand sold in Sephora.  I think that this brand is sold in drugstores, but wasn't able to find a website.

I stopped in Beauty Buffet and picked up two of their products. Gino McCray is the professional brand that is sold in Beauty Buffet stores.  I got a lipstick in Oranda and a shimmer powder that I gave to my sister.  The lipstick applies very orange when first applied, but turns to a darker, redder color once it oxidizes.

This is a brand that I had never heard of, but found out about while I was in Thailand from one of the girls that I was visiting. I got their Baby BB cream and Super Black liquid eyeliner. Both of these products were really affordable at around $3.00 each.  The BB cream came in one color and ends up being very white on my skin.

I picked up a bottle of Soap and Glory Hand Food at Watsons.  I really liked this hand cream and it's a staple in my bag. The scent smells really nice and isn't too strong.  The price for the Soap and Glory line is comparable to the prices in the US, as they are a UK line. The Watson's didn't have that big or different a selection that you can find in a US Sephora

I picked up a few sheet masks from Boots.  I heard that asian sheet masks are really good so I got some to try out.
These are hand and feet masks. One side has the mask and the other side has a glove/sock to put on over the mask. I have never seen something like this in the US and was intrigued.  I might save these for the winter time when my hands and feet get really dry and cracked.

I found this mask at Watson's.  Tea Tree is supposed to be good for acne so I wanted to try this out out.

I got this at the airport in Japan.  My sister is obsessed with her Shu Uemura eyelash curler, but for some reason Shu Uemura pulled out of the US market and can only be purchased overseas or through their website.  I got my sister a replacement eyelash curler for $20.00 (+ shipping) from the Shu Uemura website for her birthday in March. I wasn't planning the trip to Thailand at that time, otherwise I would have waited. This trip I tried to look for the pad replacements for the curler, but I guess they don't manufacture them anymore. They sold the eyelash curlers in a Shu Uemera store in Thailand on sale for around $18.00, I saw it at the duty free in the Bangkok airport for around $17.00 and found it at the duty free at the Japan airport for $10.00! So glad I waited to get this in Japan.  I could have gotten a pack of two curlers for around $18.00, but thought that was eyelash curler overkill.

Thailand Haul: Accessories

These are the accessories that I got while I was in Thailand.  All of the jewelry pieces that I got were from two stores. One was in MBK and the other was a Topshop in one of the malls.  I was really excited to go to the Topshop, because I don't have any around where I live. When I visited LA last year, they were doing construction on the Grove Topshop, so I made it a point to visit one while in Thailand.  Just my luck, they were having a sale!

Bracelet set.  They are a rose/coral color. There are five bracelets in the set and are all elastic. Each one of the bracelets is different.

I got two of these skull necklaces and a set of earrings. They came in all different colors, I ended up getting the diamond, black and green colors. I am giving the green necklace to my friend.

Close up of the earrings.

It's half of a skull with the rhinestone peeking out from the missing side. I have an obsession with skulls, so this was perfect for me!

Earring sets that I purchased for my friends as gifts. Nautical, foxes, hearts and clovers.

This necklace I saw when we went to the store, but for some reason I didn't buy it. One of the girls that I was there with purchased it and wore it that day. I keep looking at it and knew that I had to go back and get one for myself. It came in three different sizes, I got the medium sized necklace.

The top three bracelets are from the same store at MBK. THe bottom bracelet is from Topshop.  The top bracelet has little skull charms and a mint green thread. The middle bracelets are the same, but different colors. The left side is rose and the right is mint green. When I went back to the store, I picked up the rose bracelet, I would have gotten more, but those were the only colors that I liked. I love these bracelets. The bottom bracelet is from Topshop and is metal with a lavender chain and a neon green thread threaded through the main section of the chain.

This ring set I got for my sister. It screams hippy and I thought it was perfect for her. Plus it was on sale!

This is the last piece that I got from Topshop. It was on sale also and it reminds me of the temples in Thailand.

I purchased four pairs of shoes while out there also. The pink pair and the two bottom pairs were purchased at the same store. I kept all of the shoes except for the nude colored ones. I have worn all of them and them and they are all pretty comfortable. I think my favorite pair is the pink ones. They are like jelly shoes from the 90's and super comfortable. The brown boots need to be wore a little more to get their shape fixed from being packaged in the store and my suitcase. The only issue that I have with these shoes is that the soles have no traction, so I have to be careful while wearing them.  I almost ate it at a restraunt while walking on the tile floors. The blue shoes need breaking in also because they rub at my heels.

Thailand Haul: Clothing

I did a lot of shopping while I was in Thailand. There are two different types of malls when you are in Bangkok. One is the typical American style type of mall.  Big stores with little product, much of the focus on these stores is the aesthetics. It's all typically brands that you have heard of, despite them being in your area or not.

The second type of store is one that is squeezed into a tiny space. That only has enough room to display one product of each style that they carry. You pick something that you like and the owner will find what you want in a pile of individually wrapped bags strewn around the small store.  A majority of these stores do not have sizes, labels on clothing or the ability to try on the clothing before you purchase it. It's good to ask the owners is there are multiple purchase deals. You can usually get a cheaper price than then the already cheaply priced items. I think that all of the items that I purchased below were under $10.00.

I got this navy blue rose dress and the blush colored flyaway jacket in the same store. I saw the dress and had to have it. We asked the store owner if they had any multiple purchase deals and they said that if I purchased two or more products the price would be cut. I found the flyaway jacket and was able to try that on in the store. I wasn't able to try on the dress and when I got home I finally tried it on. To my disappointment it didn't fit. I was able to wear it, but if it was one size larger it would be a perfect fit. I gave the dress to my sister.  I purchased these from Platinum Mall.

These two flyaway jackets were also in a multiple purchase deal. This store was different than the other ones that I was in, in that to get the deal I had to purchase two of the exact same product. I got these two jackets for 180 Baht instead of the 360 Baht that they were going to charge for one.  I kept the mint green one and my sister took the peach one.  These were also purchased from Platinum Mall.

I purchased these tanks at Chatuchak Weekend Market, or JJ Market, as the locals call it. This was also purchased at a multiples discount. The designs are screen printed on thin tank tops. I think that I paid around $6.00 on each of the shirts. I got the peacock shirt for my sister an the Chanel perfume bottle for me.

These were purchased from the same store in JJ Market, they weren't purchased in a multiples deal, but they were having a storewide sale. I kept the skull tank and gave the flowered peace sign shirt to my sister.

So that's most of the clothing that I purchased in Thailand. I also bought a navy blue and white striped maxi skirt for my sister and a grey short sleeved sweater for myself. I forgot to take pics of them. I ended up wearing the skirt and shirt while I was in Thailand a lot. It became known as my "Temple Outfit" To visit the temples and palaces in Thailand there are strict rules on the dress required.  Girls must wear clothing with sleeves and bottoms that at least cover your knees or below. When we went to the Grand Palace women were not allowed to wear pants. They offered a wrap to all the inappropriately dressed visitors for a small fee and you got to keep the wrap.

Once I got back home and started wearing all of the clothing that I purchased I realized that most of the clothing didn't have washing instructions on them. I will probably be hand washing the jackets, just to make sure that they are not damaged in a harsh wash cycle, but I'll throw the tanks in the wash and hope for the best.

Review: Dr. Scholl's for her High Heel Inserts

I recently signed up for BzzAgent and received my first box.

BzzAgent is a website where you review different new products from different brands. They currently have a campaign running from Dr. Scholl's.  They have a line out specifically made for a woman's foot. I received their high heel inserts.

The inserts.

To truly test out the effectiveness of this product, I placed one of the inserts in one side of a pair of shoes and left the other side out.  If I was going to review this product, I really wanted to see a difference if there was one. By the end of the day did I have both inserts in or out?!

OUT! The product is advertised as being slim so that when you place it in your shoes your foot doesn't have to squeeze into the shoe to fit.  I did not experience this though. I immediately noticed a difference when putting my heels on and it lasted all day. By the middle of the day I had to remove the insert because the tops of the shoes were digging into my foot, causing some undue pain on the tops of my feet.

Also included in the box from BzzAgent were some coupons for the purchase of some other Dr. Scholl's products. I might end up using them to try out some of the other items in their line. This product may not have worked for me, but others might. We shall see...

I received this product complimentary from BzzAgent for my review.
