Julep Haul February 2014

This month Julep put out a coupon code in honor of the Oscars.

I saw one of these products in the past and wanted to try it out, but it was out of stock. During the promo, I saw that the item was back in stock, so I decided jump on the offer and put in an order.

Keep reading to see what I got.

All of the products I ordered.

The promo code offered a sequined clutch and two nail polishes for free with a $25.00 purchase. The 'Everybody Wins' set is still for sale on the Julep site, however, the coupon code is expired. Here is a close up of the clutch. It's a nice bronze color with tiny sequins throughout.  The sequins are on both sides of the bag, which was highly padded. I was surprised how well made this bag was, especially for a gift with purchase item. There were two options that could have been chosen in the nail polish selection. Keep reading to see which one I chose.
The inside of the clutch is lined in this leather silk. There are two pockets on one side of the clutch, one of which is big enough to hold an iPhone. The clutch closes with a gold zipper.

This is what was contained in the 'Party's Over' glitter nail polish removal kit.  The kit included ten nail caps and five packets of nail polish remover pads.  The nail covers are black rubber, all are the same size, aside from two caps (top) which are to be used over the thumbs. Each pack contains ten nail polish remover pads.  The idea behind this kit is that you place a pad on the nail and then place the finger caps over the nail and the pad.  I'm excited to try this out, to see how it removes glitter polish.  I though that it would also be good for gel nails. Review to come.

Here are the polishes that I received.
Left to Right:
'Rita' - magenta shimmer
'Oscar' - gold glitter
'Courtney' - spring green
'Clara' - creamscicle orange

Rita and Oscar were the two polishes that were included in the 'Everybody Wins - Rita Royale' set. The other choice in the 'Everybody Wins' set is 'Holly Would'.  'Holly Would' had a mermaid green color ('Holly') and 'Oscar'.

'Courtney' and 'Clara' were add ons. I used the add on function to get me to the $25.00 minimum purchase I needed to get the 'Everybody Wins' promo.  I don't currently have colors like this and I though that it would be nice for the spring time.

First Look!

This month's theme is "The Look of Love"

Everything I received in this month's bag.

0.14oz.  POP Beauty lip lacquer mini in 'Fuchsia Freesia'  I liked the color of this lip lacquer  I didn't last very long at all.

FULL SIZE Jesse's Girl eye color collection in "Brown Eyed Girl"

The palette included 9 different shades in a neutral collection. I'm assuming that this was given out according to the survey you fill out when you initially sign up for a subscription.

FULL SIZE Zoya nail lacquer in "Odette" There were two different colors that you could have received in this month's bag.  Odette or a pale pink color. I'm happy that I received this color.

FULL SIZE J. Cat Beauty 100% human hair eyelashes and glue in  style EL 747XS According to the J.Cat Beauty website. this style comes in different lengths, from the short ones I received to long.

Dr. Lin Skincare Acne Spot Corrector

This month was a better month for me than last month. This month make is clearly apparent that IPSY looks at the beauty survey and catered each bag accordingly.  I don't normally wear eyelashes, so I think that will be least used product in this bag. Despite that, I still liked receiving them in the bag.

Snapshot Sunday 9

This Sunday my sister came up to celebrate my mom's birthday. We spent the weekend hanging out, shopping and eating. Today I started my day off right, with two birthday cake Oreos-the one above was incorrectly made and the top is inside out.
After that breakfast of champions we went out for some dim sum for lunch. After dim sum we went for some Boba tea at a local Korean bakery. I got a chai tea drink. At first I thought "never going to get this again", but the more I sipped, the more I thought "I need to get this again!"Aren't the animal cakes cute?!
We had dinner at Cheesecake Factory, where I had a kale and quinoa salad and as I'm closing out this day, writing this post with a chocolate covered strawberry!.
P.S. How hard is it to eat a chocolate covered strawberry? There has to be an easier way!

Oscars 2014 Fashion

This Sunday, Ellen DeGeneres hosted the 86th annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles. One of the highlights of every show is the fashion. Who wore what and who looked damn good doing it. I picked my favorite and least favorite looks from this years Oscars and added them below.

All pictures taken from E! Entertainment Online

Best Dressed
 Chrissy Teigen in Monique Lhullier

I thought that this look was so whimsical and fun. I think of Chrissy Teigen as a fun, carefree, have a sleepover and talk all night long girl. This dress perfectly fits that image I have of her.  I love the pockets and the hemline of this gown.

 Portia deRossi Naeem Khan

When I saw pictures of this laser cut cream dress, I couldn't stop staring at it! I think the cut is amazing. I would like the dress better with a different design for the top. The shape is perfect, I would have like to see it with a brocade design up top, a redder lip and to lose the bracelet. Despite all the things I would have liked changed, it was still a great look.

Helen Lasichanh in  Lanvin

Obviously the first thing everyone noticed when Pharrell and his wife, Helen stepped on the red carpet is Pharrell's legs.  The shorts tux overshadowed how awesome Helen looked. I only wish that the jacket were a smidge longer, I'm not sure if it's her posture in this picture or what, but the length of the jacket seems to cut off her torso and make it look really short. I really like the ribbon tie and the whole 'Fly Colonel Sanders' look she's rocking.
I also can't leave this post without mentioning Pharrell. I don't really like the shorts tux on Pharrell, but I appreciate his breaking the rules and pushing the limits of fashion. He seems to take one thing and do it to the extreme, whether its shorts with a tux or an oversized hat. He takes risks and gets people talking.

 Jared Leto in Saint Laurent

Best dressed man at this years Oscars! A lot of men wore the white suit this year and I think Jared Leto did it the best. I like the red bow tie, the tiny peekaboo pocket square and his perfectly ombre'd hair.

 Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive

Cate Blanchett was my best dressed female. This year the trend seemed to be shades of blush, most of which were encrusted with jewels or other embellishments.  Cate Blanchett is known to always look great for awards season and this dress put her over the top for me. I love the cap sleeves and the high neck, I loved how it was sheer without being sheer. I just really loved everything.

 Charlize Theron in Dior

j'adore Dior. j'adore Charlize.

 Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture

Jennifer Lawrence looks really great in column dresses. I loved the color on her and that sweet backwards necklace.

 Kate Hudson in Atelier Versace

This dressed fit Kate perfectly.  It looked like she was born with this dress on. That cape really makes this outfit interesting, I love the tiny shoulder pads, giving a slight military air.

Bette Midler in Reem Acra

Bette Midler looked really good in this dress. It's not exactly the most fashion forward or groundbreaking of designs.  This was just a really nice dress, with a really nice fit that created a really nice look.

Worst Dressed
 Ireland Baldwin in Burberry Prorsum

Nothing about this look works. The color is too dark, the dress is way too busy, her hair is too light and the shoes are horrible. This dress is way too old for a young girl like Ireland. I really think this dress looks like it was designed by a bunch of Forever 21 buyers.  Worst dressed.

Giuliana Rancic in  Paolo Sebastian

The dress wore her. She is such a petite girl and the dress was way to big for her to pull off. The skirt is too long and too full. I don't like the unfinished design of the top and the top and bottom seemed to not match. Plus, the color of the tulle skirt looks like dirty snow, and makes Giuliana's skin look orange.

 Anna Kendrick in J. Mendel

This is another dress with too much going on. I really hate the midriff section. It doesn't match the rest of the dress. Anna Kendrick is a short girl and this dress just weighs her down and makes her look her height.  really hate the fabric. This fabric should stick to can can dancers dresses. I also don't like her hair it looks like she went to the gym, got dressed and did her hair on the car ride over.

 Kerry Washington in Jason Wu

Kerry Washington is normally a fashion standout at award shows and premieres. I think that the dress itself is nice, but I was expecting a lot more from Kerry Washington.  She is someone that could really work her pregnancy and come out showing how being pregnant doesn't mean you need to can't look good and showcase your style and baby bump.

Margot Robbie in Saint Laurent by Heidi Slimane

Margot Robbie is a beautiful girl. You wouldn't have known that from this look. Margot Robbie really grabbed my attention in that white Gucci that she wore to the Golden Globes earlier this year. This is the exact opposite from that look. The dress has no shape, I really don't like the dark hair on her and she just looks like she is Wednesday Addams big sister.

Unfortunately I didn't receive any of the samples I wanted to try.

Snapshot Sunday 8

http://meetinthelobby.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Breaking-Bad-Poster-Season-1-Large.jpg

This week I really got into Breaking Bad.  I know that I'm late on this bandwagon, but I'm so happy that I finally jumped on. My friend kept telling me that I should watch the show and I kept saying that I would get to it, knowing that I wouldn't. I finally gave in and watching the first few episodes on Netflix and it started off slowly. It wasn't until the second season that I really got into the show and now I completely obsessed with finding out what happens to Jesse and Walt and everyone else on the show. I already know how the series ends, because of all the spoilers when the finale aired. Despite knowing what happens, I'm still fully invested in the show. It's not very often that when watching a show I will audibly call out and make comments while watching, but I find myself doing this a lot while watching this show.

If you have not already started watching this series, I would highly recommend giving it a try.
