Review: Tangle Teezer

I kept hearing about the Tangle Teezer from all the long haired beauty gurus on You Tube.  At first I kept thinking that it was a gimmick and that this funny looking brush could not work better on hair than my hairbrush that I have been using for years. I decided to go to Sally Beauty Supply to check it out and see what all the hype was about. It was sold out.

I ended up coming across another Sally's while out shopping and went to see if this one had it. They had them in stock in the pink and purple colors. I didn't get it then because it was $13.00. I was not about to pay $13.00 on a brush, especially one that could have the same results as a really bad 'As seen on TV' product.

I ended up receiving an email with a $5.00 off coupon and was going to get some groceries at a store that happens to be right next to the original Sally's that I went to. I stopped by again, not expecting to leave with anything. They had one Tangle Teezer in stock, so I picked it up and using my coupon spent $8.00.

This is what the brush part looks like.

The brush doesn't have a handle and I'm assuming it was designed to be ergonomically pleasing.

The bristles are in two different lengths.

I tried out this brush on my dry hair first.  My hair was very dirty and I had it in a ponytail all day. At the end of the day, after taking out my hair, it was a tangled mess. I can honestly say that the Tangle Teezer works.  The brush GLIDED through my rats nest. It didn't pull on my hair at all like a regular brush does and got out all of the tangles quickly and easily.

I tried this out on wet hair too and it worked just as well. I really didn't think that the product would work as well as it did, but was pleasantly surprised. The brush was designed to fit in your hand easily, but it doesn't seem to fit into my hands. I drop this brush a lot while brushing my hair, but I'm okay with that because it takes out the tangles so painlessly.

I find placing my hand that doesn't have the brush in it on the other side of my hair as it is being brushed really helps to comb out my hair. The bristles on the Tangle Teezer are shorter than a regular brush, so I use my hands to push the hair into the bristles after most of the tangles have been brushed out.

This brush doesn't work well for styling, because it doesn't really pick up the hair. I still have to use my regular brush to comb my hair in different directions, so this brush can't be the only brush that you  use. The brush is lightweight and smooth. I definitely recommend getting this brush if you have long hair to brush out the tangles without breaking your hair.
